Diversify Your Skills and Your Personal Contact Network

Your Network is a Part of the Puzzle

Every time  I watch a news report these days about the absence of jobs I cringe.   There are jobs out there.  What I am finding is that  certain jobs demand skills that people don’t  have.  In the new economy it’s all about skills and relationships.  When possible, diversify your skills portfolio.  Acquire new information and  credentials to ensure that you are a viable candidate in several  areas.    More importantly, who’s in your network or of greater importance who knows you?   Who is aware of  your ability to add value to their organization.  Most people look for work when they NEED a job. Few consider job hunting when things are going well.   Always keep your network warm and your skills diverse and plentiful.
